Photography was an interest I had in art school. For some reason, it didn’t cross my mind that it was an option I could pursue as a major. I joked that I would have taken that route if I had known otherwise. I’m glad I didn’t. Taking photos, to me, is an outlet unsullied by the burdens of corporate responsibilities. Free from the praxis of arbitrary ‘thinking’ chained to my nine-to-five. There is a purity in being behind the lens. Capturing mundanities, or freeze-framing the events and moments that continue to shape me as a person.
The Urban Shadow is reigniting this old flame. It started out as taking snaps on the phone and hosting it on Instagram. Hopefully having a formal site adds gravitas in revisiting this chapter, and more importantly, forces me to observe my environment 1.
